Open to the public since May 29, 2003, this small museum unit, located in the village of Buarcos, aims to recover and disseminate some of the major historical memories of the fishing practices most used by shoreline communities of Figueira da Foz municipality, allowing the meeting of new generations with experiences of the past and the social context in which the municipality has developed and grown. The museological heritage consists of documentary evidence and objects that reveal the affinities of these populations with maritime reality and the activities intrinsically linked to it, with natural resources and socio-cultural traditions, enabling the preservation of communities’ memories and thus providing their enjoyment to the visitors.
