Situated on the northern bank of the Mondego River, 0.8 nautical miles from its mouth, is the Marina of Figueira da Foz. This consists of a harbour with a total area of 5 hectares, comprising several piers and floating fingers, and with 200 berths for boats between 6 and 15 metres in length. It also has a 120-metre-long quay, at which larger craft can moor. The marina offers visitors a wide range of facilities, including hull and engine repair services.
Its geographical location, however, helps to make it not only a place where the crew can rest or where yachtsmen can stop to repair their boats and replenish supplies, but also an extremely pleasant spot for a holiday, in view of the wide variety of leisure options on offer. Besides the long sandy beaches to the north and south of the marina, its close proximity to the city centre provides easy access to a number of sights of great architectural and cultural interest.
