The Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Peniche Museum Centre

The Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Peniche Museum Centre is composed of the Igreja da Irmandade (Church of the Brethren) and its outbuildings.

The walls of the main section of the church are lined with 55 paintings that, together with others on exhibition, represent an important collection of 17th-century regionalist painting.

Attention is drawn in particular to five paintings by Josefa de Óbidos, as well as some others by Baltazar Gomes Figueira.

A special mention should also be made of the magnificent 14th-century Flemish altarpiece.
