Óbidos Museum

Óbidos is a mediaeval walled town, where the many churches and intricate network of narrow streets bordered by beautiful white houses give visitors the feeling that they have been taken back in time.

The museum has a collection of sacred art, including both sculpture and paintings, one of which is the work of the famous artist Josefa d´Óbidos (1630-1684).

It also has a valuable collection of French and English weapons from the time of the Peninsular War (fought against Napoleon´s invading army), Baroque furniture, architectural fragments and Roman archaeology.
