Gaia Pier is nowadays transformed in a pleasant Tourist area, endowed with wonderful esplanades, restaurants and bars, with a great view over the Porto’s historic centre. This is one of the historic places of Gaia, a town that has developed due to the famous Port Wine, as this was for many years the fluvial harbour where merchandises were exported and imported. Here arrived the wine production destined to be aged in the Cellars of the more than 50 wine companied that exist in Gaia, and also left the wine bottled and ready to be exported until far away destinations.

From the Gaia Wharf depart, nowadays, the famous Douro River Cruises, heading to the Alto Douro region, where vineyards and much of the Port wine production takes place, providing unforgettable landscapes, considered to be some of the most beautiful in the Country.
