This section begins between the towns of Pedralva and Vilarinha. Start by taking a refreshing swim at Amado Beach, a big sandy beach that spans three valleys. Then, head towards Pontal da Carrapateira, which has tall cliffs shaped by the sea and the wind. Explore this rugged area and enjoy the unique landscape with the crashing waves and the wide Atlantic Ocean view. When you reach Carrapateira village, don’t forget to visit the Sea and Land Museum of Carrapateira.
As you move beyond the villages, you’ll have the choice to explore either the inland or the coast first. Nature walks are a great way to see wild animals like boars, foxes, and badgers in their natural habitat. On the coast, you’ll find marine life, various bird species, and beautiful beaches. One notable bird is the rare osprey .
When you get to Arrifana, take another refreshing dip in the Arrifana Beach, a popular spot for surfers and bodyboarders all year round.
Continue your journey towards Aljezur, the final destination of this section. Here, you can explore the Painter José Cercas House Museum and Aljezur Castle, which offers a stunning panoramic view.
This section is part of the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park, which stretches from São Torpes, south of Sines to Burgau. It covers areas in the municipalities of Aljezur, Odemira, Sines, and Vila do Bispo.
